COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

None of the courses require class attendance. Students who don't attend meetings will be able to easily follow the study and practice material. Class transcripts are delivered by e-mail at the end of each session. Certificates of Completion are provided.

THE SPANISH LANGUAGE

More than 332 million people use Spanish as their mother language. The total number of individuals speaking Spanish is near 381 million. Twenty countries have Spanish as their official language: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The chief authority for the study and preservation of the Spanish language is the "Real Academia Espanola de la Lengua", created on October 1714 by King Felipe V of Spain. Spanish, like any language, is a form of expression and, as such, it cannot be static. Like a living organism, its evolution goes together with progress in science, in the arts, in industry, in sports and in every human activity. The Spanish language, also called "Castellan" (Castellano) because of its exact place of birth, originated in Spain. It derives from Latin, and belongs to the "romantic or neolatin" languages, such as French, Italian, Portuguese, Rumanian and Provencal.

These three eight-week courses are segments of our "Basic Spanish" studies. They will provide, rapidly and easily, the ability to pronounce Spanish well, to engage in everyday conversation, and to read simple Spanish text. Its bilingual content eliminates the burdensome need to look up words in the dictionary. The dialogues deal with common topics, eliminating nonessentials. As with any language, the basis for understanding and learning resides in frequent practice. Making good use of time during class and dedicating a few moments each day to the language will enable you to gain a sound knowledge of the elements of Spanish and to lay the foundation for advanced learning.

After completing the three segments you'll be able to take a final exam granting you at least 3 official college credits. Please send us the name and location of your college or university and we'll be happy to inquire about their rules regarding these college credits.

This is an in-depth course designed specifically for Spanish language students who want to improve their level of knowledge. The new "easy-to-learn" format of two eight-week course segments separated into Grammar and Verbs, bring a pleasant solution to this demanding task. Class meetings will be dedicated to written exercises and consultation about grammar rules, not to the practice of regular conversation or any other subject.

This 4-week course is designed specifically for Fire Station and Police personnel in emergency situations. The increasing Spanish-speaking population makes it necessary to have a basic knowledge of the Spanish language, including an adequate vocabulary.

The exam for obtaining the DELEs (Inicial, B‡sico and Superior) consistsof five tests: reading comprehension, written expression, listening comprehension, grammar and vocabulary, and oral expression.

The comprehensive three-part program will help update and expand teacher's knowledge of the Spanish language, and also acquire productive and entertaining course material to be used in their classrooms. An in-depth review of reading comprehension, written expression, listening comprehension, grammar and vocabulary, and oral expression.

Each of these four week courses offers 8 hours of online class meetings using audio and text components. Basic grammar rules and a rich vocabulary dedicated to travel matters provide the necessary tools for a comfortable journey.
